Amberwood Subdivision Drainage Improvements
The Amberwood Subdivision Improvements Project consisted of replacing an existing, failing drainage system with a system capable of passing a 100-year storm without the flooding that had been a recurring problem. This project included permitting and construction of a new drainage crossing of Highway 98, without any closures.
Key to the accomplishment of the design objectives, Fabre Engineering developed a stormwater flow model that satisfied FDOT’s concerns, and indicated that the proposed improvements would actually decrease the flood stage of a 100-year storm at the Highway 98 crossing. Lack of this analysis had previously been an insurmountable obstacle to obtaining FDOT approval of proposed improvements.
