Pace Treatment Wetlands Effluent Reclamation System
The project consisted of permitting, design, and construction inspection of the first natural, treatment wetland permitted from scratch in the State of Florida. The 144-acre wetland can treat 1.0 MGD of advanced, secondary, treated effluent prior to discharge into Escambia Bay via the Simpson River. This project provides an extremely environmentally friendly effluent reuse alternative for the Pace, Florida area. The treatment wetland includes a ¼ mile nature boardwalk for educational tours. The project also includes provisions to automatically divert effluent from spray irrigation to the wetlands, chemical feed facilities, and a 1.0 MGD reject storage pond facility. Fabre Engineering & Survey was given an “Excellence Award” by the Florida Institute of Consulting Engineers for this project. This award was a statewide competition. Fabre Engineering & Surveying provided services included: Planning, Permitting, Design, Preparation of Construction Plans and Specifications, and Construction Administration.
