Holley-Navarre Water System Well No. 5
Well No. 5 was developed in response to increasing sodium content of the discharge from the Floridan aquifer of Holley-Navarre’s Well No. 4, which threatened its continued use. To maintain the system’s desired water quality and minimize capital construction costs, Well No. 5 was developed as a low sodium, sand and gravel aquifer well to provide blending water for the Floridan aquifer discharge, yielding a low sodium mixture.
The well will reduce the total demand on the Florida aquifer, while avoiding the cost of developing an entire new water source. The new well includes pressure filtration for iron removal, and chlorination for disinfection.
